Holy White Hounds to Release Debut Album SPARKLE SPARKLE September 19
Album Release Show to be held at Wooly’s in Des Moines
Presented by LAZER 103.3 and Surly Brewing Company
On Saturday, September 19, Holy White Hounds will release their debut album Sparkle Sparkle. The album was produced by Brandon Darner (Imagine Dragons, Radio Moscow, Envy Corps) and is a stripped down but true rock 'n' roll exercise. It boasts relentless beats and explosive guitars and is sprinkled with polygonal, reflective, and urgent lyrics. The album will only be available through the band's website and at their shows.
To celebrate Sparkle Sparkle, the band will host a record release party/show at Wooly’s in Des Moines. The show is scheduled for release date and will be presented by LAZER 103.3 and sponsored by Surly Brewing Company.
Sparkle Sparkle is comprised of songs like "Switchblade," which is as influenced by Beck as much as it is by Queens of the Stone Age. Vocalist/guitarist Brenton Dean paints an intriguing lyrical portrait over a bass and drum groove that builds to volatile display of transient guitars, hurls you into space, and then brings you back to earth in four minutes and 26 seconds flat. Then there is the Sabbath-like gut punch that is “In Your Skin," which is driven by gnarly, fuzzed out guitars; it addresses the notion that sometimes the worst parts of a situation are often the most beautiful. The album also features poignant, Nirvana-esque poetry, which seeps from “Oh Mama,“ and then there is the poppier, alternative radio-friendly “Blind."
According to Dean, they chose the name Holy White Hounds because, "We're dirty but we're not unclean. We're mangy but you'd still let us sleep in your bed.” Their music epitomizes that saying!
After bringing Seth Luloff (drums) and James Manson (guitar) into the mix, the band took to the road in 2014, sharing stages with the likes of Cage the Elephant, Sick Puppies, Cake, Wavves, Surfer Blood and Rob Zombie. Local rock radio station KAZR/The Lazer as well as KIWR/The River in Omaha, where it is the #4 Most Requested Song this week & WLZX/Springfield, MA so far have embraced the band by adding "Switchblade" and already have shown unwavering radio support. Lazer DJ Andy Hall says “Inventive and incredibly infectious...Holy White Hounds' Sparkle Sparkle shines front to back and I believe is merely the tip of the iceberg for this talented group of musicians." May 2015 saw the band performing at LazerFest/Des Moines in front of thousands of adoring fans.
Holy White Hounds will perform at CMJ in New York City on Saturday, October 17th in Park Slope, Brooklyn at Union Hall.
